Meta's AI initiatives are likely to be a key aspect of how it monetizes products and services going forward, while bringing more users and customers into the AI fold. Whereas Meta's headset is priced for mass-market adoption, Apple's headset is clearly a premium device targeted to those who demand the most cutting-edge technology — such as micro-OLED lenses with eye-tracking capabilities . Similarly, JMP Securities argued that the event "highlights Meta's AI tailwinds," which could "unlock additional advertising budgets with new chat-based customer service." Meanwhile, we expect adoption of Meta's Quest 3 hardware to grow. But the integration of the Meta AI assistant into that platform should ultimately make the glasses a more valuable product over time.

Wendy's will pilot its new AI drive-thru tech this month at some locations in the Columbus, Ohio, area. The hesitancy to discuss any generative AI implementation is understandable. That said, we think that generative AI opportunities at Starbucks are still worth considering. This is where we think there's a clear opportunity for margin improvement as generative AI adoption goes mainstream. There are going to be a lot of opportunities to invest in to play the adoption of generative AI outside of tech.

As earnings season ramps up, one thing that can help investors get a jump on upcoming announcements is readily available: already reported results. What Alphabet tells us about Meta Meta Platforms issues third quarter earnings after the closing bell Wednesday. What GM tells us about Ford Ford (F) issues third quarter earnings after the closing bell Wednesday. What GE, Raytheon tell us about Honeywell Honeywell (HON) reports third quarter results before the opening bell Thursday. Honeywell is again expected to generate $2.9 billion in sales in aerospace in its third quarter, according to FactSet.
Shares of social media company Snap (SNAP) plummeted to a new 52-week low Friday on the back of a third-quarter revenue miss, with knock-on effects for internet Club holdings Meta Platforms (META) and Alphabet (GOOGL). But despite the market moves, Snap's results should not be seen as a read through to Meta and Alphabet, which are vastly more substantial entities than Snap. Snap, which has seen its stock come down by nearly 84% year-to-date, tumbled roughly 30% Friday, to $7.56 a share. But the Club thinks the market has mistakenly roped together these social media and internet giants, which have built multifaceted digital ecosystems, with Snap.
